The Problem

Managing staff data manually (spreadsheets, scattered documents, and chat logs) quickly becomes messy: duplicate records, unclear roles, and no single source of truth. Payroll and leave were the worst of it, because every number had to be rebuilt by hand each month.

The Solution

I built a custom HR Management System that centralizes employees, attendance, leave, payroll and recruitment in one place. Instead of forcing the team into a generic SaaS template, the system is designed around how they actually work.

Employee records with departments, branches, designations, skills and pay scales.
Attendance check-in/out with breaks and monthly summaries.
Leave requests with approval, rejection and override flows.
Payroll with allowances, deductions, bonuses, snapshots and PDF payslips.
Recruitment: job openings, a public application page and an applicant pipeline.
Six roles (Admin, HR Manager, Finance Manager, Department Head, Employee, IT Admin) enforced by permissions.

What I Focused On

The goal was not just to "get it working", but to make it maintainable and clear for the next person who touches the code - or for future versions I'll build myself.

Payroll snapshots, so a past payslip never changes when a rate does.
Role-based access with Filament Shield, so each person only sees what their job needs.
An activity log that records who changed what.
Queued bulk actions and exports for the heavy work.

Outcome

The team moved from scattered records to a single HR system they can log into from anywhere. Instead of hunting for information across multiple tools, everything is now centralized and structured. A public demo with fictional data resets every hour.
